Description

An Heirloom of British Hi-Fi – Made in Britain

Wharfedale Aston. Drawing on Gilbert Briggs’s founding vision from 1932, that loudspeakers should convey the thrill and emotion of a live performance. The Aston is the ultimate expression of Wharfedale’s nine decade legacy. Meticulously designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Wharfedale engraves each pair with a unique serial number. Consequently, this strictly limited run of 500 pairs ensures that owning an Aston is as rare as it is rewarding.

From its vintage inspired wood veneered cabinet to the modern standard of finish and precision craftsmanship, the Wharfedale Aston balances heritage styling with cutting edge performance. Every surface, from the inset grille trim to the hand matched veneer, is chosen to reflect the standards that have made Wharfedale Britain’s most famous loudspeakers. Its timeless aesthetic hides a speaker that is thoroughly contemporary in capability.

Innovative Transducer Design

At the heart of the Aston lies a brand new 150 mm (5.9 in) carbon-fiber bass/midrange driver housed in a rigid cast chassis. A profiled phase plug couples the driver to deliver super smooth upper mids and natural dynamics. The 25 mm (1 in) soft dome tweeter features a rear chamber damping system that pushes its resonant frequency far below the crossover. As a result, this reveals every nuance of detail without harshness. These bespoke drive units, born from decades of award winning transducer research, offer the perfect union of strength, speed, and precision.

Precision Crossover & Acoustic Engineering

The Wharfedale Aston’s carefully tuned crossover network employs air core inductors and high-spec polypropylene capacitors. Thousands of hours of listening tests across all genres refine the Aston experience. Consequently, this level matching and slope tailoring ensures a seamless hand off between drivers. Thus, presenting music exactly as the artist intended. The multi layer cabinet, engineered through complex modelling and resonance control testing, works in tandem with dual rear ports to extend clean bass down to below 50 Hz. Subsequently, astonishing for such a compact stand mount design.

Custom-Engineered Stands

Every pair of Wharfedale Astons ships with a bespoke stand. Accordingly, these stands use hardened high-carbon British steel and tempered glass inserts. Conceived alongside the speaker, the open frame design offers torsional rigidity, optimal height positioning, and controlled bass-floor interaction. Finished to match the furniture grade cabinets and supplied with stainless steel spike seats and handcrafted gloves.  Accordingly, these stands transform listening into a ceremonial ritual.

An Invitation to Rarity

Wharfedale will only produce 500 pairs of these speakers.  Every component is Made in Britain. Each Aston speaker is a testament to Wharfedale’s unwavering commitment to musical authenticity. Once these serial numbered editions are gone, they will not return. Experience the full impact, thrill, and emotion of live performance.  Authentically, and exclusively with the limited edition Aston.
